Life Threatening Emergencies

In a life-threatening emergency such as sudden severe chest pain, severe breathlessness, loss of power in a limb, loss of consciousness or severe bleeding dial 999.

Injuries

The surgery is equipped to treat minor injuries like small cuts and joint sprains. If the injury is more severe or may involve a broken bone then you should attend the Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department at the following hospitals:

Great Western Hospital. Tel: 01793 604020.

Also in the event of poisoning or overdose please attend A&E.

Urgent Problems during Surgery Hours

If you have an urgent problem 08:00-18:30 Monday to Friday please call us on 01793 523176. If you call whilst the practice is closed (e.g. lunchtime period) you will be offered the option to contact the duty GP by pressing 9.

If you explain to the receptionist that you are sufficiently unwell to require being seen on the day you telephone, you will not be refused an appointment but we may refer you to other services, ie Moredon SUCCESS Centre, Swindon Health Centre SUCCESS Centre (Islington Street) or the Childrens' Clinic at Moredon.

Please note that in such cases the initial assessment of your condition may be carried out by one of our practice nurses. However, please bear in mind that demanding an urgent appointment when the condition does not merit it will use up precious appointments for others who genuinely do need to be seen on the same day.

Same day appointments can be booked on the day and are all released at 8:30am - it is therefore advisable to call as early as possible on the morning of the day on which you would like to be seen.

Between 18:30 and 08:00 Monday to Friday, and at weekends and Bank Holidays, the Out of Hours Service can be accessed by calling 111.

When we are Closed

If you need to see a Doctor between 6:30 pm and 8:00 am on weekdays, or at any time during the weekend or on a Bank Holiday please call NHS 111.
