Our doctors provide general medical services, as well as specialist services such as child health monitoring, maternity and contraceptive services. To make an appointment for any of the clinics and services below, please contact our reception staff.

Smoking Cessation:
Guidance and support to stop smoking at pre-bookable appointments. Please also see our Smoking Status Questionnaire.

We are also able to offer contraception, travel advice & immunisations for non-registered patients of this practice.

Cervical Cytology (Smear Tests)

To reduce the risk of cervical cancer, smear tests should be performed every 3 years (unless otherwise indicated by the Doctors) between the ages of 25-65. You will be informed by computerized letter that your smear is due. Smears can be done at the surgery by the nurse and appointments can be made via reception.

Children's Clinic

Medvivo, a company that provides several different medical services throughout Wiltshire, runs a children's clinic in Swindon. The clinic cares for youngsters, toddlers and infants suffering from common colds, aches or pains but not life-threatening conditions, that are unable to get an appointment with their own GP.

The clinic runs from Monday to Sunday between 8am and 8pm.

To access the service you must telephone a specialist nurse who will make an appointment time with you.

Free Chlamydia Test

If you are between the ages of 15- 25 you can have a free Chlamydia test ... This is done on a urine sample. The results are confidential and can be sent to your mobile phone. Ask the doctors, advanced nurse practitioners or nurses for the test. For more information about Chlamydia and the national screening programme visit www.nhs.uk.

Our Practice Nurse offers the following services:

  • First aid advice, Blood and Urine Tests, Dressings, removal of stitches etc
  • Adult and Childhood Immunisations
  • Travel Immunisations
  • Stopping Smoking
  • Cervical Smears / Contraception Services
  • Family Planning
  • Health Promotion
  • New Patient Health Checks
  • Advice on Diet
  • Spirometry (lung function tests)

The nurse also runs a variety of clinics.

Phlebotomist / Clinical Assistant Services

Our Phlebotomist / Clinical Assistant carries out the following procedures:

  • Phlebotomy (Blood Taking)
  • Routine Blood pressure checks
  • ECG's (heart tracing)

Private Non-NHS Work

Medical Examinations (Non-NHS)

Certain services provided by the Doctors are not covered by the NHS and fees are payable for such items as:

  • HGV & PSV licences
  • Elderly driver licences       
  • Insurance
  • Pre-employment medicals
  • Private certificates          
  • Holiday vaccinations
  • Insurance claims           
  • Fitness for sports

Please ask the receptionist for such services. Charges are payable at the time of attendance, and the BMA recommended scale of fees is on display at the reception desk. For further information please see Why do GP’s charge?

Medical Certificates

Self-certificates are available from your employer for sickness of up to one week. Any certificate required from the Doctor for periods up to the first week can only be provided as a private certificate for which there is a charge.

Private Patients

Patients, who are not NHS registered at this surgery, can be seen privately. Please contact the Practice Manager regarding fees.

Travel Vaccinations

Advice on immunisation and precautions needed for foreign travel are available from the Nurse. For all advice and information regarding foreign travel please see our Travel page.

Please note certificates for confirmation of vaccination for visa purposes are NOT on the NHS and a charge will be made.

Please try and see us well before you travel, ideally 4-6 weeks and try not to leave vaccinations to the last minute. It is essential you have adequate medical insurance, and if visiting an EEC country you will need an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card).
